Murmuration is a year-long Squidsoup project as part of the Bloom -> Wave -> Curve development strand. The project located at the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art (SMoCA) is a site-specific work conceived and developed in relation to the concept of flocking birds.
The project takes on highly ambitious ideas to produce a work that is equally effective during the day as a sculptural, sonic work and as a light and sound-based piece during the night. This provided us as a base to develop a beautiful structure but also an engaging audience in an immersive installation.
During the day murmurateing birds flock and flow around you in the daytime sun.
At Dawn and Dusk the work turning into a powerful series of harmonising cords.
The night is coloured with a blast of colour and sharp washes of sound.
The work has been on display outside The Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art since November 2019 – May 2020
