Light Up Poole is a unique 3-day Light Art Festival taking place from Thursday 21 to Saturday 23 February 2019 with a learning and talent development programme leading up to it. The ambition is to build on previous success in 2018 and present more light art and digital installations to excite audiences with interactive, accessible participation activities in partnership with high profile collaborators. It is a platform for diverse artists to showcase their work, highlighting the unique location in one of the words largest natural harbours, with innovation at its core. A key aim is to strengthen relationships with local businesses, education institutions and corporate sponsors by creating opportunities around talent development, sharing and developing knowledge and skills between artists, academia and business. In February 2018, Light Up Poole (LUP) attracted over 20,000 visitors, 1,900 people participated, and we commissioned 12 new installations from emerging and international artists. The Festival was appreciated around the world reaching 38 countries online through digital engagement. Our intention is to increase audiences and participants by 25%.
